On January 31, the group standard of “Coal-fired Coupled Sludge Power Generation Control Technology Guidelines” drafted by Guangzhou China Resources Thermal Power Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Guangzhou Project”) was officially released.

As one of the pilot projects of “Sludge Coupling Demonstration Construction” and “National Biomass Coupling Power Generation”, Guangzhou Project set up a technical team for the sludge coupling demonstration project together with Guangdong Electric Power Research Institute, South China University of Technology and Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2018, and has carried out industry-university-research cooperation in sludge coupling in terms of unit safety, environmental protection and energy efficiency. In 2019, Guangzhou Project successfully completed the wet sludge drying project and the construction of dry sludge feeding system, and has disposed 198,000 tons of urban sludge up to now, which effectively solved the environmental problem of “sludge siege”.

According to the State Council’s “Reform Program of Deepening Standardization Work”, group standard, as one of the standards independently formulated by the market, can be used to meet market demand and innovation needs, and increase the effective supply of standards. In May 2020, in order to promote the experience in the construction and operation of sludge-coupled power generation demonstration project , Guangzhou Project took the lead in establishing a standard-setting project team and made an in-depth summary on the construction of sludge-coupled power generation project, the operation of sludge facilities, the management of mixing process, and the control requirements of pollutant discharge, etc. After exchanges and discussions with government regulatory departments and scientific research institutions in the province, the standard was officially approved, released and recommended for use by Guangdong Energy Association on January 31, 2021.

This standard fills up the gaps in domestic standards in the field of coal-fired coupled sludge power generation, regulates industry access threshold, promotes the Guangzhou Project’s leading position in the industry, and plays a good guiding role for sludge coupled power generation projects of other power plants inside and outside the province.
