The promotion and application project of key sewage sludge co-combustion technology in coal-fired power plant submitted by CR Power Guangzhou Thermal Power Plant stood out from 189 achievement promotion projects, winning the first prize of 2020 China Southern Power Grid Award for Achievement Transformation and Application on May 4.

As of December 2020, Guangzhou Thermal Power Plant has disposed of 197,700 tons of urban sewage sludge. Compared with traditional sludge landfill, the sewage sludge co-combustion can save about 39 mu of national lands and landfill costs about RMB 49 million for the local government. Furthermore, one group standard has been prepared and published for this technology, and two patents for invention have been authorized, contributing to Guangzhou's energy saving, emission reduction and improvement in ecological environment.
