Guangzhou Project has been thoroughly implementing the policy of "water conservation first" in recent years. Based on the water conservation actions, it has improved the water conservation system and standards, strengthened water conservation publicity and education, and enhanced water conservation supervision and management. In July 2018, Guangzhou Project invested CNY 900,000 in the intelligent transformation of the polishing system, which saves 23,100 tons of demineralized water and reduces 34,700 tons of fresh water withdrawal of the whole plant per year; in May 2019, it invested CNY 1.41 million in the transformation of the coal water treatment system, which is expected to treat about 240,000 tons of coal-containing wastewater per year to thus reduce the use of tap water by 100,000 tons and water used for spraying by 140,000 tons; in 2019, Guangzhou Project achieved industrial water reuse rate of 98.93% and water withdrawal per unit product of 1.89 cubic meters per megawatt-hour, both of which were better than the norms of water use of the state and Guangdong Province; in March 2020, it further invested over CNY 700,000 in the transformation of the domestic sewage system and wastewater pipeline system, which is expected to save 1 million tons of water withdrawal.

Guangzhou Project will continue to practice the concept of "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets", fulfill the social responsibility as a state-owned enterprise, integrate into the urban development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and work hard for the building of a national water-saving city.
